Bryce Commission Project

Bryce Commission Project

I’m always honored when people reach out to me to commission artwork. It’s a lot of fun collaborating with commission clients to bring their vision to life.
Recently Bryce Lee, one of my favorite clients, requested I illustrate him every month in 2019 based around a theme.
Below are the months completed so far.

If you are interested in commissioning artwork, send me a note. I’d love to work with you!

January Theme: Happy New Year
February Theme: Those We've Lost
March: Women's History Month
April: Spring is Here
May: Mother's Day

When I was sick last year, Ashley sent me a notebook with a drawing of me. Not only was I touched by the gesture, I was blown away by her talent. I quickly reached out to thank her and ask that she make a similar notebook for my cousin. When the holidays rolled around, I thought in lieu of store-bought Christmas cards, I would reach out and ask Ashley to create me one. Ashley delivered! The Christmas card was such a hit I ended up having to reach out to Ashley for more to send out. I got the idea to do a monthly commission with Ashley in hopes of by the end of the year having enough drawings to create a calendar for 2020. Since January, Ashley has created a drawing for me corresponding to that particular month so I can display them on my social media. Ashley is a tremendous talent and each month I am delighted to see how she brings my ideas to fruition. I have known many artists but Ashley is heads above the rest. Her work is a breath of fresh air. The ideas may come straight from my brain but the results are a contribution from her heart.

Deep Space Nine Posters and Stamps

Deep Space Nine Posters and Stamps

I’ve always been a huge Star Trek fan. After discovering that a Deep Space Nine documentary was coming to theaters, I began rewatching the series.

There are so many wonderful characters, I couldn’t resist starting an illustration project featuring them.

Below are several minimalist posters, each featuring a character from the show.
There is also a “master poster” featuring all of the characters I illustrated and a stamp (or sticker) set.

Font Design: Ashmont

Font design: Ashmont

The Ashmont font is a hand drawn font inspired by my college years in Boston. I love doodling in the margins of my notebooks and wanted to create a font that reminds people of scribbling fun notes to friends. The name Ashmont comes from a stop on the MBTA, affectionally known as the “T”.

You can download the font here

ATD Presentation Design

ATD Presentation Design

Creative presentations and pitch decks are an important, and often overlooked, way to tell an organization’s story, sell a product, or share information with clients.
No one wants to be bombarded with a wall of text-heavy information. Fun, engaging presentations allow you to use imagery, icons, and fonts to communicate your ideas.
Here are a few example slides from presentations I’ve worked on for The Association for Talent Development (ATD) .

If you’d like help creating more impactful presentations, contact me and we’ll get to work!

TDI Conference Branding

TDI Conference Branding

The Talent Development Across Industries Conference (TDI) is a new ATD conference about compliance in the financial Services, healthcare, and manufacturing industries. I was tasked by ATD to create a logo, ads, guidebook, and other assets for the conference.

This is the client’s original mockup of the TDI logo and branding colors.

The team working on the conference wanted something that would better reflect their audience: compliance professionals in the healthcare, financial, and manufacturing industries.

They also wanted imagery that would work well in print and online, including imagery for a mobile app.

Because the client wanted to use the logo for both mobile and other collateral, I decided that creating a circular image would be best.

A circular image gives the logo a button-like quality associated with mobile apps, and looks great on print.

I also wanted to change the color to a blue hue as blue is often associated with trust (an important value for compliance professionals). I chose a blue that would look good with ATD’s signature orange color.

After creating the logo, I began working on the website assets. Here are a few examples.

I also designed the conference guide that attendees used to navigate the event. Flip through the guide below to see more.

ATD Infographics

ATD infographic design

Infographics are an increasingly popular way to share information. The Association for Talent Development often uses infographics to teach their members more about the Talent Development field. I’ve had the pleasure of designing several infographics for the association. Here are a few examples:

Book Cover Design: Early Childhood Education and Care

Book Design: Early Childhood Education and Care

NASW Press, the publications division of the National Association of Social Workers, is a leading scholarly press in the social sciences.

I was hired by NASW to design a book cover for one of their latest titles, Early Childhood Education and Care: History, Policy, and Social Work Practice by Joy P. Greenberg and Jessica M. Kahn. The challenge was to create a cover around the theme of childhood without taking away from the seriousness of the book’s topic.

Book Cover: Advancing Innovation (Report)

Book Cover Design: Advancing Innovation (Report)

The Association for Talent Development hired me to design the cover of the research report: Advancing Innovation: High-Performance Strategies for Talent DevelopmentThe client wanted me to source photography to create a design with a “running” theme.

Instead of going with photography,  I used sourced isometric vectors to create and infographic-like running image for the final cover.
